ABOUT

At San Francisco’s Nectar Wine Lounge, our seasonal fare provides the perfect pairing for our diverse collection of wines from all corners of the world. The Nectar experience doesn’t end there –
if you discover a wine that seduces your taste buds, purchase a bottle (or two) to take away.
The majority of our selections are available for retail.

Nectar was the first wine bar in the Marina and continues to hold the title as one of the oldest in the city. In most of the local watering holes, wine is not a priority. Grape enthusiasts deserve a place where an eclectic array of noteworthy selections is there for the taking.

Since 2004, Nectar has welcomed neighbors, travelers, connoisseurs and newcomers alike; a comfortable oasis for wine and food appreciation. Set the mood with a candle laden room, old school jams and the backdrop of a movie marathon projected on our wall. Bringing the definition of lounging to life.

OUR TEAM

CHRISTOPHER POTTER & LEAH LIDSKY

Owner Christopher Potter is a certified Sommelier, who believes that wine is a lifestyle which should be enjoyed often and by everyone. His comrade in consumption, Leah Lidsky, has an extensive background in food and wine. Prior to coming on board at Nectar, she was a partner at luella, a long-time neighborhood favorite in Russian Hill. Her passion is fueled by self-taught knowledge and a commitment to all things bubbly.

Industry veterans, their past toils have included Boulevard, Fifth Floor and RN74 – just to name a few. In 2014, they joined forces to reinvigorate the Nectar experience with an educated palate and a smile. The result? Innovative food and wine pairings, signature flights, tantalizing wine descriptions and an upbeat yet casual atmosphere. Chris, Leah and their family of wine geeks are prepared to host a range of gatherings with a sense of humor and accommodating service.

WINE/FOOD

WINES

Our selections are predominantly from small producers and independently owned wineries. This is not to say our list doesn’t represent any mainstream labels. But we embrace the opportunity to showcase some spectacular juice that may otherwise be overlooked. Wine-making is constantly evolving and challenging peoples’ perception about wine. We are continually tasting and changing our list to share as many standouts as possible. Abandon preconceptions and open your mouth, taste buds and mind. Raise a glass with us – discover how vast the wine world is and the variation it has to offer.

FOOD

Hungry? Kick it up a notch and complement your tasting with some edibles from our kitchen. We may not have studied at Le Cordon Bleu but we follow suit in utilizing fresh, sustainable and organic products. No microwaves here!  Creative, approachable dishes are made to order and inspired by Mother Nature and her seasons.  As we all know, food makes everything better.

Our perspective will hopefully provide some sass and whimsy in an often overly serious genre…
